Imagine, what an interesting social and culturally diverse future could be created in Mirfield by a working co-operation between the Friends of Mirfield Library, St Pauls, The Canal & River Trust, The Creative Arts Hub, The West Yorkshire Print Workshop, The Woodturners Club, Safe Anchor Trust and MyMirfield.
In reality, these organisations have already come together to create and develop this concept in, and around, the Eastthorpe district. This concept is to be known as the MIRFIELD MALTINGS.
The first step in developing the Mirfield Maltings has been taken, starting with an BIG exciting project – THE MIRFIELD ARTS FESTIVAL.
The Arts Festival will take place in several venues in, and around, Eastthorpe and Mirfield town centre over the weekend of the 15th and 16th July 2017.
Jenny Tomlinson Walsh explained that the aims of the Arts Festival are simple:
“First of all we want Mirfield to enjoy itself at what should be an interesting, fun and mostly free of charge weekend of exhibitions, entertainment and happenings. We want to showcase Mirfield for what it is – a good place to live, work, shop and do business. Plus we want to help enhance the social and cultural life of the town.”
